The Grapes...

Stray Leaves Vineyard harvests Riesling, Zinfandel, Primitivo, Petite Sirah, Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes.  Our white wines produced from the Riesling and Zinfandel grapes will ferment in stainless steel barrels for almost a year to perfect their flavors, while our red wines produced from the Zinfandel, Primitivo, Syrah, Petite Sirah and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes will ferment in oak barrels for three years to reach their full-bodied richness.

Stray Leaves Vineyard sits at the foot of the Tehachapi Mountains covering 5 acres of recently designated American Viticultural Area (AVA).  As one of the original establishments of this up-and-coming wine country it’s on the map as an ideal climate to produce the finest flavored grapes in the region. 100% of Stray Leaves wines are estate grown, fermented, and bottled for farm-to-table freshness.

The Dog

We call our best wines “Kate’s Reserve”. These wines are typically strong, “Wild”, and one of a kind red blends. We often get asked who Kate is and why she has a reserve. Kate’s Reserve is a story of a man and a stray dog. Kate was a black lab mix that decided Stray Leaves Vineyard would be her home. She protected the vineyard from 2005 to 2014, as it grew from baby plants to beautiful vines. Clifford Meridth, vineyard owner, remembers his dog fondly as she's featured on the original labels sitting under her favorite oak tree.
